Jeanie Marie Buss is an American businesswoman from the United States. The current president is and controlling shareholder of the Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association. Buss, a Californian native was raised with an affluent life. Jerry Buss was her father. Jerry Buss started out as a realty business tycoon after which he later became the owner of the Lakers. After her parents split up in 1972, she was convinced that they'd abandoned her. At 19 years old she joined the family's business, serving as general manager of the Los Angeles Strings professional tennis team. Later she founded the Los Angeles Blades pro roller hockey team. She first served as vice-president for the Lakers before she assumed the presidency of the Great Western Forum. Buss along with her five sisters and brothers, as well as their father who owned the Lakers and controlled them until his passing away in 2013, received this ownership through an estate. They each were entitled to equally vote rights. Buss assumed the role of the president for the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss is also the co-owner of Women of Wrestling, a professional organization that has its headquarter within Los Angeles.
