Whitney Houston and Dana Bash

Whitney Elizabeth Houston was born into a musical family on August 9th, 1963. She was born in Newark New Jersey the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston (nee Emily Lee Drinkard) and John Russell Houston Jr. as well as a cousin of the singing sensation Dionne Warwick. As a young girl, Houston started singing professionally with the choir of her church. Houston sang the backing vocals for Chaka Khosn's song from 1978 Im Every Woman with her mother.
